BLAIRSVILLE - Authorities searching for a missing north Georgia woman began interviewing 180 sex offenders in nearby Tennessee as the case extended into a seventh day.

Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman John Bankhead says investigators on the Kristi Cornwell case were talking to sex offenders in counties closest to the Georgia-Tennessee border on Tuesday. Road checks and neighborhood canvassing in Blairsville continued.

Police say 38-year-old Cornwell was abducted Aug. 11. Her boyfriend told her she believed a car was following her and he said he called police when he heard her struggle on her cell phone.

Cornwell last worked as a state probation officer in 2002. She also worked at the state prison in Blairsvile and the Towns County Sheriff's Office.
She is the mother of a 15-year-old son.
