CITY OF NEWBURGH — City police said Friday they have asked Cory Byrd to take a polygraph test and are awaiting a response from his lawyer.

Byrd, 30, is the boyfriend of Christina Bookal, mother of Marc Anthony Bookal, who has been missing since Monday. Byrd said the 4-year-old boy walked out the front door of the Benkard Avenue apartment where all three live.

Police said Byrd asked for a lawyer during questioning by police Monday and they have not been able to talk to him since. They charged him Tuesday with endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, and violation of parole.
